Doctorate enrolment procedure

Enrolment takes place in 2 stages: applicants are first enrolled on their course at the Doctoral School; they then register with the administration at Grenoble-Alpes University.

Enrolment on a course at the Doctoral School

First Year

Thesis supervisor

It is up to you to find a thesis supervisor. To do this, you may contact prospective lecturers directly by email and present your project to them.

Qualifications required

To apply for a doctorate, you must have obtained a French Research Master’s degree (or DEA (MPhil)) with distinction, i.e. a minimum mark of 12/20. If you do not hold this qualification, you will need to apply for an “exemption”. Your request will be examined by the Doctoral College’s commission.

Creating a Personal Account on ADUM

Please complete all the fields, since these will be required during your research.
When you have completed the form, you will be able to download the documents required by the Doctoral School.
Documents required by the Doctoral School:

  • Training agreement, to be signed by your thesis supervisor > downloadable from ADUM
  • Thesis charter > downloadable from ADUM
  • Information system usage charter > downloadable from ADUM
  • Signed GDPR Form > downloadable from ADUM
  • Thesis project (5 to 10 pages)
  • CV

NOTE: you must keep a copy of your application form which is also downloadable from ADUM. You will be required to produce it when you register with the administration.

Second year onwards

Update your ADUM personal account.  (Please update all fields, since these will be required during your research).
Documents required by the Doctoral School:

  • thesis follow-up report (to be signed by your thesis supervisor) > downloadable from ADUM
  • certificate listing modules taken (validation of hours of training)

NOTE: you must keep a copy of your application form which is also downloadable from ADUM. You will be required to produce it when you register with the administration.

Registering with the administration at Grenoble-Alpes University

You will be informed by email when your thesis follow-up report has been validated by all parties. You will then be able to register with the administration.
The administrative registration campaign runs from mid-September to mid-December. Make sure you do not miss this deadline.
