The “Démocratie, Monnaie, Souveraineté” (“Democracy, Currency, Sovereignty”) project is being led by Grenoble-Alpes University’s IDEX (Initiatives of Excellence) project over the period 2019-2020. It is an interdisciplinary study of the relationships between monetary theory and democratic theory, bearing in mind that state institutions have historically been organised around the notion of sovereignty. Is this appropriate when considering the democratisation of socio-economic relationships?
